Invertek Drives was delighted to welcome a trio of high-profile visitors to its Welshpool headquarters recently for a guided tour of its state of the art facilities.
The Company’s Operations Director, Charles Haspel, and Innovations Director, Dr David Jones, demonstrated some of the reasons why Invertek has become one of Wales’ leading high-tech companies to the Rt. Hon David Jones MP, Secretary of State for Wales, Glyn Davies, MP for Montgomeryshire and Aled Jones, Group Leader at Powys County Council.
Invertek’s investment in innovation has resulted in it becoming a leading local employer and a major global player – more than 95% of the products made in Welshpool are destined for export markets, making a significant contribution to both the local and national economy.
The trio were extremely impressed with the Company’s advanced production facilities and the value it places on ensuring it employs the best people across all areas of the business. Invertek’s ‘Technician Programme’, a formal path which recognises acquired skills and training with financial incentives, was praised, along with links the Company has developed with local education providers.
Rt. Hon David Jones MP commented, “Invertek is an excellent example of a high-tech company leading the way in demonstrating the breadth of careers available in advanced manufacturing.
“Support for Growing SMEs is a central part of the Government's long term economic plan, and key to Invertek's success has been investment in innovation. I am pleased the company is continuing to develop its energy saving products to meet the specific needs of a wide range of industrial sectors.”
During the tour of Invertek’s facilities, discussions took place around the effects of Government funded initiatives aimed at helping growing SMEs. Charles Haspel comments, “Energy saving is a huge issue on Government agendas around the World. More than 70% of electrical energy is used in industrial applications using electric motors. The ability to improve process control is key to achieving both energy and cost efficiencies.”
Rt. Hon David Jones MP acknowledged that consideration to how innovation is funded is required to ensure companies such as Invertek continue to thrive and benefit their local communities and the UK economy.
