Energy saving capabilities of Variable Frequency Drives on show at Electric and Hybrid Marine World Expo

Invertek Drives is pleased to announce that it will be showcasing its energy saving Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) in Booth 6012 at the Electric and Hybrid Marine World Expo, taking place in Florida next month.

Alt text not available Joining global manufacturers from the marine sector, Invertek will be demonstrating the high-performance motor control capability of its Optidrive range of VFDs, which can be used to lower energy consumption in a number of shipping applications.

The energy used in marine equipment such as Bow Thrusters, Winches, Cranes, Pumps and Compressors can be significantly reduced by using a drive to match the speed of the motor with the requirements of the application.

Sales and Marketing Director, Rhydian Welson, comments, “The international shipping industry is under increasing pressure to reduce the production of CO2 emissions following the introduction of far-reaching legislation.

“Invertek’s leading range of Optidrive VFDs, including DNV approved products, provide an excellent solution - cutting energy consumption of electric motors used in equipment found on marine vessels by as much as 60%. As a result, ship owners meet CO2 reduction targets whilst significantly reducing their costs.”

Marine equipment control offers significant potential for Invertek Drives and the independently owned company has been raising awareness of exactly how it can help the shipping industry by exhibiting at a number of recent shows, including Europort in Rotterdam last month.

During January’s three day event, show attendees will be able to find out about Invertek’s high-performance Optidrive P2, Optidrive ECO Pump and the brand new general purpose Optidrive E3. The latter is the latest drive to be released - delivering reliability, high performance and efficiency in a compact, easy to use unit which is ideal for marine environments.

Available in a choice of IP20 and IP66 rated enclosures with conformal coated electronics, Optidrive E3 can efficiently handle literally thousands of low power applications and is designed to operate trouble-free in the 50°C temperatures frequently found in environments such as vessel engine rooms.

Benefitting from extended motor control to cover IE2, IE3 and IE4 permanent magnet, BLDC and synchronous reluctance motors, and also able to control single phase motors, Optidrive E3 has been developed to ensure it is easy to use around the world.

Rhydian continues, “The World Expo is a highly targeted show aimed at exactly the type of decision makers we want to meet, providing us with an excellent opportunity to highlight both the value and capability of the Optidrive range to a vast number of existing and potential customers.

“Ultimately, Optidrive variable speed drives are one of the best solutions for energy reduction in the marine sector – offering unrivalled performance and flexibility, whilst meeting the key standards and requirements of demanding applications.”

The Electric and Hybrid Marine World Expo 2016 is taking place between 11th and 13th January 2016 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. To find out more about Invertek’s world leading VFDs please visit the sales team in Booth 6012.
