INVERTEK DRIVES CELEBRATES KING’S AWARD FOR ENTERPRISE PRESENTATION AT GLOBAL HEADQUARTERS

Invertek Drives Ltd, a global leader in variable frequency drive (VFD) technology, marked the formal presentation of The King’s Award for Enterprise - International Trade 2025 at its headquarters in Welshpool, Powys.

The award was presented by Tia Jones, Lord Lieutenant of Powys, accompanied by Vice Lord Lieutenant Tony Evans, in recognition of Invertek’s exceptional international growth.

The award acknowledges Invertek’s 149% growth in overseas sales over six years, achieved despite global challenges including Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic, and supply chain disruptions. Today, exports represent 95% of total sales, reinforcing Invertek’s position as a leading innovator in energy-efficient motor control solutions.

The Lord Lieutenant, Tia Jones said: “It is an honour to present The King’s Award for Enterprise to Invertek Drives. This award recognises the company’s exceptional achievements in international trade and its contribution to the reputation of Welsh businesses on the global stage.”

Invertek’s Optidrive range of VFDs is used worldwide to optimise electric motor performance, reducing energy consumption and cutting carbon emissions across manufacturing, HVAC, water treatment, and renewable energy sectors. These solutions help industries meet sustainability targets while improving operational efficiency.

Adrian Ellam, CEO of Invertek Drives Ltd, commented: “Our drives help businesses worldwide reduce energy use and emissions. Receiving The King’s Award reflects our commitment to sustainability and innovation, and the dedication of our team in delivering solutions that make a real difference.”

Since its acquisition by Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd in 2019, Invertek has expanded its global footprint through wholly owned subsidiaries in the USA, Spain, Germany, and Poland, supported by a worldwide partner network. The company recently completed a major expansion of its UK production and distribution facility, increasing capacity to meet growing international demand.

Shaun Dean, Chairman of Invertek Drives Ltd, Executive Vice President of Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd, and Managing Director of Sumitomo Heavy Industries (Europe), added: “This award highlights the strength of Invertek’s global strategy within the Sumitomo Heavy Industries group. Together, we are driving growth and technical excellence to support a greener future.”
