Invertek Drives Service Engineer, Merlin Smout, has been awarded the Myrick Training Coleg Cambria Apprentice of the Year, recognising his outstanding achievement during his apprenticeship programme.

The award was presented at Coleg Cambria's annual student awards ceremony held at the college's Yale site in Wrexham, North Wales. The event celebrated inspirational apprentices, students and adult learners across all of Cambria's sites.

Merlin's achievement represents the culmination of his commitment to both his workplace learning at Invertek Drives and his studies at Coleg Cambria.

Clare Gannon, Global Service Centre Manager at Invertek Drives, said: "We are incredibly proud of Merlin's achievement. This award reflects not only his personal dedication and hard work but also demonstrates the value of apprenticeships in developing the skilled engineers we need in our industry.

"Merlin has shown exceptional commitment throughout his apprenticeship, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved."

College Chief Executive, Yana Williams, praised all the award recipients. She said: "What an incredible year it's been at Coleg Cambria! You truly embody the spirit of the college and your hard work, dedication, and passion shine through everything you do."

Invertek Drives supports apprenticeship programmes as part of its ongoing commitment to developing skilled professionals and meeting the engineering industry's skills requirements.

Additionally, it runs its own Graduate Training Programme and works with local colleges on T Level, HNC, and other courses and qualifications as part of its training and employee development commitment.
