Racing ahead as British GT Champions - with a little help from Optidrive Eco VFDs

Runway 42

Congratulations to RUNWAY42 / Steller Motorsport on becoming the Overall GT4 Champions in the 2022 British GT Championship. Drivers Stennan Fielding and Richard Williams took the overall GT4 Drivers Championship.

Steller Engineering used our Optidrive Eco VFDs to control 14 high-output fans in the UK’s latest and most sophisticated vehicle rolling road test facility located at their base in Buckinghamshire.

The VFDs control 12 of the 14 fans to simulate varying air movement cycles under strict conditions in vehicle test situations. The volumes of air create real-world and extreme external ambient conditions against the vehicle cell. Runway42 is part of Steller Engineering Ltd, a racing team and engineering company specialising in bespoke engine and gearbox calibrations for super, hyper and race cars. The high-powered vehicles are placed in the facility to undergo testing as part of the engine calibration process.
