Global variable frequency drive innovator and manufacturer, Invertek Drives, is expanding its German operations as part of an investment in the DACH region, it announced at Hannover Messe, Germany, today (Monday, 30 May 2022 – Stand B25, Hall 6).

The company is opening new offices at Markt Indersdorf, near Munich, and has appointed a new distributor for its Optidrive range of VFDs and associated motor control technology within Germany.

Invertek has also made two key staff appointments as part of its growth in the region. Guido Lowitsch joins as Sales Manager and Guido Kerzmann as Senior Technical Manager. Both have extensive knowledge and experience in the VFD and motor control industry. Klinger and Born GmbH has been appointed as Invertek’s national distributor in the region.

It follows the announcement earlier in May about a significant investment in its Spanish business, Invertek Drives Iberica. This comes after revealing a £10million expansion at Invertek’s global manufacturing facility and headquarters in Wales, UK, to increase capacity to produce more than 600,000 VFDs a year.

Shaun Dean, CEO of Invertek Drives and Senior Vice President of Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd, its parent company, said: “Since Invertek was acquired by SHI in 2019 we have continued to invest in its growth. Over the past two years we have undergone significant growth globally with record order input.

“Germany and the wider DACH region are a key market for us in Europe. The new offices near Munich, two key appointments and a new national distributor support our strategic approach in the region and globally.”

Rhydian Welson, Sales and Marketing Director added: “We’re pleased to be announcing this at Hannover Messe, one of Europe’s major industrial exhibitions. The past two years has been unprecedented from a manufacturing and sales perspective. It’s good to be back at such an event to make such a key announcement among colleagues and customers after such a long period.

“Globally, Invertek Drives continues to become a widely recognised brand for high quality, durable and energy saving motor control technology. In a world where there’s a drive for ever greater energy saving technology to reduce climate change, we’ll see further technological advances in efficient motor control and Invertek will be leading on this through continued innovation, research and development to create some of the most advanced variable frequency drives.”

The £10million expansion of its manufacturing facility and a new Application Centre at its global HQ in the UK has already begun.

The Application Centre will be used to showcase Invertek’s products to potential and existing customers and used for training sales, technical, and servicing personnel.

Investment will also be made in its expanding Innovation and Research and Development facilities. New R&D laboratories, including a dedicated motor room, test and validation centre have already been opened over the previous two years.

Continued commitment and investment of SHI in Invertek Drives

The investment is being driven by Invertek Drives parent company, Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd (SHI), and is a further sign of its commitment to making Invertek a leader in the development and manufacturing of world-class variable frequency drive technology since 1998.

Invertek Drives was launched in Welshpool in 1998 and has grown year-on-year ever since. Its international headquarters, R&D and manufacturing facility are located at the Offa’s Dyke Business Park, Welshpool, UK, where it employs more than 300 people.

Globally, the company employs more than 340 personnel and has sales and services partners in more than 80 countries.
